AminoAcids

What is it?

Every cell in the body needs and uses amino acids. When you eat a meal, your digestive system breaks down from foods into separate amino acids, which are then recombined to create the specific types of protein required by the body.

What does it do?

Amino acids are needed to maintain and repair muscles, tendons, skin, ligaments, organs, glands, nails and hair. They also assist in the production of hormones, neurotransmitters, and enzymes.

Common Uses

Treatments of heart disease, lowering of blood pressure, boosting immune function and relieving some nervous disorders.

Dosage

Amino acid supplements are more effective when they do not have to compete with the amino acids in high protein foods. For this reason, take the supplements at least 1.5 hours before or after meals.

Caution

Pregnant or breast-feeding women, diabetics or anyone with high blood pressure or a liver or kidney disease should be particularly wary about using amino acid supplements. High doses of certain amino acids may be toxic and induce nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Caution - Consult your doctor before taking supplements, especially if you have a medical condition or are pregnant.
