Dandelion (Taraxacum Officinale)

What is it?

Dandelion grows wild throughout the world. Its leaves and roots are a rich source of vitamins and minerals.

Common Uses

The root strengthens liver function: useful in cases of hepatitis and jaundice. The root aids digestion by stimulating the release of bile from the liver and gallbladder, may help to prevent gallstones. The root helps to reduce oestrogen dominance in endometriosis and breast pain. The leaves help to reduce fluid retention.

Dosage

To strengthen liver function in cases of hepatitis, gallstones and endometriosis: Take 500mg of a powdered solid dandelion root extract twice a day. For constipation: Drink one cup of dandelion root tea three times a day. For anaemia: Have 1 teaspoon of fresh dandelion juice or tincture each morning and evening with half a glass of water. For water retention: Drink one cup of dandelion leaf tree three times a day.

Caution

Dandelion should not be used during acute attacks of gallstones. Seek medical advice.
